Mein verlieben Kadaj .

"I've never known Sephiroth. I just... I sense him there. It's unbearable to think that Mother might want Sephiroth more than me ..." —Kadaj

Kadaj is one of the main antagonists in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children .

The leader of the Remnants of Sephiroth, Kadaj's goal is to find Jenova, who he believes is his Mother, and conquer the planet.

However, unknown to him is the influence of Sephiroth over Jenova's remains, and so Kadaj is unaware that he is merely a tool for Sephiroth's resurrection, although he knows that Sephiroth is more favored by Jenova.

Kadaj above his brothers is aware of the existence and plans of Jenova and Sephiroth, as neither Loz or Yazoo even indicate they know Sephiroth exists.

In spite of, or perhaps because of this, Kadaj's dedication to his Mother's cause is accompanied by a deep insecurity over his inferiority to Sephiroth in her eyes. Despite this, he is still a highly skilled warrior and a strong leader.

EtymologY :

Kadaj's name is derived from the Persian word khadaj , which means "incomplete". This is obviously a referral to Kadaj as a remnant of Sephiroth, and to his reformation as Sephiroth himself after merging with Jenova.

Kadaj was designed by Tetsuya Nomura.

Kadaj's appearance, like the other Remnants, is markedly inspired by Sephiroth's design. Kadaj appears in a long black coat, although he wears his zipped up, with shoulder-length silver hair and green eyes. He wields a double-bladed katana called Souba in battle.

Kadaj is also left-handed like Sephiroth. In particular due to all their similarities, Vincent Valentine describes Kadaj as a "larval" form of Sephiroth, foreshadowing Kadaj's transformation. In this, Kadaj seems to be the Remnant closest to Sephiroth himself, able to briefly take on Sephiroth's appearance at times.

Kadaj's appearance was greatly shaped by his voice actor Shoutaro Morikubo - his dialogue when recording for Kadaj gave a clear image of how Kadaj would look, and designing his appearance and modelling him was easy.

"So what if I'm a puppet? Once upon a time, you were too!" —Kadaj to Cloud

Although Tetsuya Nomura wanted Sephiroth to appear in the film from early in production, a secondary villain just as evil and cruel was needed, if not a villain more evil due to the film's limited timeframe. It is for this role that Kadaj was made.

Character

Kadaj embodies Sephiroth's cruelty and insanity, and as such is very similar to him in some aspects.

Nomura has stated that Kadaj wasn't given an exact age, but was given a young appearance and made the leader of the Remnants to give the sense of a psychotic, unstoppable child.

Kadaj 's voice actor Shotaro Morikubo in the original Japanese version of the film, helped shape his character as a lost and dazed youth with an insanity streak - Nomura describes him as "talking quickly, then speaking slowly or breaking into laughter for no apparent reason".

Morikubo joked that Kadaj's lines were thus difficult to get right, and it was only after failing to get them right and "losing his cool" that the desired effects would be achieved.

Several of Kadaj 's scenes, including his death with the involvement of Aerith and his conversations with Rufus , were last-minute additions originally cut and added back in to expand on the plot and his character, and the death scene was meant to give a sense that he had found some sense of relief. As well, the staff invisioned him as a reminder of what Cloud once was - a puppet to Sephiroth's will - which led to the inclusion of the line in which Kadaj reminds Cloud of this. This line in particular endeared Kadaj to the staff, which led to the development of more scenes featuring him.

Abilities

Kadaj initially appears to summon Shadow Creepers .

Shadowcreepers are creatures who appear in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children .

Shadow Creepers are monsters created from tainted Lifestream, and can be summoned by Kadaj, Yazoo, and Loz , the remnants of Sephiroth .

The Shadow Creepers are summoned two times in the movie, the first to time to attack Cloud Strife in the wasteland or outskirts of Midgar, although Kadaj dismisses them just before they could harm Cloud , and the second time in the city of Edge , when the remnants try to make people stand back from the Meteor Monument before summoning Bahamut Sin .

Bahamut SIN (バハムート震 Bahamūto Shin lit. Bahamut Tremor) is a form of Bahamut, a monstrous dragon, that only appears in the CGI movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children .

It is Summoned by the movie's antagonist Kadaj in order to wreak havoc on the people of Edge, a town built near the broken ruins of the former metropolis Midgar . It is defeated by Cloud Strife with the help of his companions from Final Fantasy VII[ . It was given the name "Bahamut SIN" in the English version due to a translation error, its real name being "Bahamut TREMOR" (Bahamut SHIN in the Japanese audio version). It is notable for appearing as a twisted, demonic version of Bahamut, its eyes sunken, red, and bug-like, its skull featuring a series of demonic, ram-like horns, and its wings supported by a series of fly's wings, lending some credence to the English mistranslation "Bahamut SIN ."

It otherwise bears stronger resemblance to the Bahamut from Final Fantasy X than it does to Final Fantasy VII's Bahamut, although it is even more in line with the revised Crisis Core version of Bahamut.
Takeya who designed Bahamut has stated its appearance was inspired by the culture of the
Jōmon period in Japanese history.

Although it is the last Bahamut to appear chronologically, it fits between Bahamut Zero and Bahamut Fury in terms of strength. Logically, its special attack would be "Peta Flare".

The Shadow Creeper are smaller than more common Final Fantasy creatures like the Behemoths, and they present a scaly skin and a dragon-like head.
Their attacks are based on the use of their teeth or claws.

( To attack Cloud Strife while he is out riding his motorcycle. After speaking to one of the Turks over the phone, Kadaj recalls his monsters and sets off to find Rufus Shinra . )

Plots & Motives

Arriving shortly after Cloud leaves Rufus , Kadaj reveals that the plague Geostigma is caused by the remnants of Jenova in the Lifestream, and that those infected are part of a plan for a second Jenova Reunion that will recreate Sephiroth and therefore reconquer the planet .

However, Geostigma alone isn't enough, Jenova's remains are needed, and Kadaj believes Rufus knows where they are. With a group of infected children brought to the Forgotten Capital ,
Kadaj proceeds to tell them that Geostigma is caused by their bodies rejecting Jenova's influence (which ironically, is correct), and that her presence makes them brethren.

Kadaj has the children drink from a pool of dark water, activating the latent "reunion instinict" in their Jenova cells. Cloud arrives afterwards and battles Kadaj and his brothers. Outnumbered and weakened by his own Geostigma infection, Cloud is defeated but is saved by Vincent Valentine .
It is at this time that Vincent reveals to Cloud what Geostigma is, and the impending rebirth of Sephiroth it could mean, although he doesn't yet reveal Kadaj's connection to Sephiroth .

Weapon

. The Souba (双刃)

is a kind of weapon which appeared in FFAC , and is the main weapon of Kadaj , leader of the Remnants of Sephiroth who appear in the movie. The Souba is a katana with two reinforced parallel blades, set a small distance apart from each other, the intent of the design to trap an opponent's sword between them and disarm them.

Despite being much smaller than the Fusion Swords, Kadaj is able to battle Cloud using the sword with no apparent handicap, using the sword's dual blades to also give it a wider striking range and more easily deflect Cloud 's attacks than a more narrow sword would be able to.

The blade is lost in the ruins of Midgar during his final battle with Cloud , but after Kadaj reforms into Sephiroth and is subsequently defeated, it regenerates with him.

Following his death in Aerith's Great Gospel Limit Break, both Kadaj and the sword vanish into the Lifestream .

Some of the Souba's replicas can be split into two katanas, but this feature has not been officially confirmed.

Non-Final Fantasy appearances of this weapon :

A similar weapon is seen in the manga Rurouni Kenshin by Watsuki Nobuhiro. In chapter 78, the character Chou is seen using what he called a "renbatou", which he produced by disassembling and reassembling two katanas together into one. Chou remarked that one advantage of using such a weapon is due to its design. Because the two blades are so close to one another, the cuts that the renbatou inflict do not have to be aimed at vital spots, as the cuts cannot be stitched up. The victim would supposedly die of untreatable wounds.

Events

With the reunion instincts of the children to guide them, the Remnants go to Edge,
where Loz and Yazoo battle the Turks and Kadaj summons Bahamut SIN to attack the city.

During the attack, Kadaj confronts Rufus again, and confirms that Sephiroth is about to be reborn. After Cloud and his friends defeat Bahamut SIN, Rufus reveals Jenova's head in a box concealed under his cloak. Casting the box off the building where they're standing, Kadaj leaps after it and catches it.

The ensuing chase between the Remnants and Cloud along the highways into Midgar apparently kills Yazoo and Loz . Kadaj gains the lead and stops at the Sector 5 Church to inspect Jenova ;
he is promptly horrified at what is left of her and cries. Cloud bursts in, and an enraged Kadaj
attacks him. However, Aerith calls a geyser of healing water to erupt from the flowerbed, wounding Kadaj and causing him to flee. The water also cures Cloud of his Geostigma .

Cloud confronts Kadaj outside the ruins of Shinra Headquarters . Kadaj is unaware of what to do with Jenova's remains now that he finally has them; when Cloud points this out, he attacks.

Now that he is cured and back to his full strength, the battle ends with Cloud as the victor
and Kadaj hanging from the edge of a tower. With no other option, he leaps into the air and absorbs Jenova's cell into his body, leading to the recreation of Sephiroth moments later.

After Sephiroth is defeated, Kadaj is reformed from his dissolving remains, and he attempts a half-hearted attack on Cloud but collapses into his arms, mortally wounded. Weakly calling him "brother", Cloud holds him while Aerith speaks to Kadaj from the Lifestream .
Bielieving she is Jenova , Kadaj calls her "Mother" and dissolves into the Lifestream with her guidance.

Skills

.Kadaj performing a Limit Break?
(into the water darkened at Agito)

Kadaj is a highly skilled swordsman and is able to battle Cloud competently one-on-one, although he is defeated. When Cloud is weakened due to Geostigma, Kadaj is able to match and defeat him, and he is evidently strong enough to defeat both Reno and Rude by himself, as they are incapacitated when he confronts Rufus without his brothers.

Kadaj also has access to Materia in the film, and uses it both to summon Bahamut SIN and to cast Matra Magic .

Matra Magic :

Final Fantasy V

Missile is a Blue Magic spell that deals damage equal to 3/4 of the target's current HP.

When is used, it takes off 3/4 of its target's current HP and inflicts Seizure. However it will miss if the target is immune to instant death. An attack called Launcher also appears in this game, and releases eight random attacks taking away 1/2 of one target's HP with each hit. Both are only used by enemies and cannot be learned as Lores.

Final Fantasy VII

Matra Magic is an blue magic which is learned from the enemies Custom Sweeper, Bullmotor, and Death Machine. It inflicts light non-elemental damage on all enemies. Even so due to its lower MP consumption (8 MP) and the earliness in which it can be obtained, Matra Magic is very effective in the first stages of the game.

Final Fantasy VIII

Called Micro Missiles, it can be learned by Quistis by using the Missile item. It reduces the opponent's HP by a percentage which differs depending on Crisis Level. It is also one of the few Gravity elemental spells in the game .

Final Fantasy IX

Quweena's Matra Magic reduces the target's HP to 1. Also, there is another Blue Magic that does the opposite. Limit causes 9999 damage to be dealt when Quina's HP is at 1.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

Matra Magic switches the target's HP and MP. It can be learned from the Toughskin enemy.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift

Now called Matra Magick to bring its spelling in line with Ivalice Alliance standards, it switches the target's HP and MP about 50% of the time. The game's new MP system allows instant kills with this spell if enough MP is gained to use it before the opponents act. It is learned from the Adamantoise enemy.

Dissidia Final Fantasy

Missile and Matra Magic exist together in this game as story mode abilities. Missile deals 20% up to 50% damage to one enemy, while Matra Magic deals 10% damage to all enemies in the engagement range.

Even without the aid of Materia, Kadaj is able to summon Shadow Creepers at will.

In Advent Children Complete, Kadaj is able to infiltrate Healin Lodge by transforming into a black mist.

Upon walking into the water at the Forgotten Capital, it turns dark and the Jenova cells within the children become active when they drink it. One might assume this is another power accessed by Materia ,but this is incorrect; the Materia orb in Kadaj's gauntlet does not glow when he uses this power, as it does whenever he otherwise uses Matra Magic .

It has been speculated that this may be some form of Limit Break due to the way Kadaj glows when activating this power.

Quand on fait un copier-coller, on indique sa source.

Normalement on fait des posts en français, si tu veux le faire dans une autre langue, il faut quand même prévenir et préciser pourquoi.

... Verstehen ...

A part ca,
une equation selon vos
avis personels :

Kadaj : 96 %
Loz : 0,4 %
Yazoo : 3,9 %

Sephiroth : 100 %

Sachant ke quel ke soit
vos gouts personels,
l'equation de votre Trio
devra donner 100 %
a Sephiroth
en toute logique ...

(meme si Kadaj reste mon elu perso)

Au sujet de l'interpretation du supposé
Limit Break de Kadaj
a Forgotten Capital
(la contamination des eaux du lac)
je ne sai qu'en penser,
jaurai voulu avoir vos points de vue
respectifs sur la question ...

Sinon,
